Universidad de la Habana

In my third year of undergrad I knew I wanted to do an exchange, a term abroad. The last thing I wanted it to be is typical or expected. As a Political Science major, there was one place on my mind. Luckily for me my best friend and I were in sync. Cuba.

We went on a mission to find the program that would let us realise this dream. We went from advisor to advisor to find the right professor that would understand the importance of this program. Then we had to apply.

We made a deal, if either of us got in we would have to go, even if the other didn’t get in. It was too important. I remember being away on a job and I got the call from Kasia, we both got it. Our adventure of a lifetime was about to begin.

We spent our time in Cuba in full colour. Hitchhiking across the country. Deep diving into the pulse of the community. We were learning about ourselves, this country, how to see, hear, and learn all at the same time.

These are some of those moments in time.
